Turkish citizens have the special right to work in the territory of the Republic of Poland. The rules are set out in Decision No. 1/80 of the Association Council of the Turkish Republic and EEC on September 19, 1980. on the development of the Association, which Council was established under the Agreement establishing an Association between the European Economic Community and Turkey, signed in Ankara on 12. September 1963.
Based on that a Turkish citizen:
- after 1 year of legal employment, he has the right to renew his work permit with the same employer, provided that his position is retained,
- after 3 years of legal employment (subject to priority of the Polish citizen) working in the same profession with any employer,
- after 4 years he can start work without a permit.
Family members of Turkish citizens:
- a family member of a Turkish citizen who has been issued permit to join him as part of family reunion may take up work after 5 years of legal residence in Poland,
- children of a Turkish citizen who have completed vocational training in Poland - can take up work after 3 years of legal employment of one of the parents on Polish territory.
