What is important to remember when submitting your application?
Through the MOS portal, you can submit applications for:
- a temporary residence permit (except for the cases listed below),
- a permanent residence permit,
- an EU long-term resident permit.
The following temporary residence permit applications cannot be submitted through the MOS portal:
- applications for work under an intra-corporate transfer;
- applications for long-term mobility of managers, specialists, or trainee employees under an intra-corporate transfer;
- applications for family reunification when the foreign national concerned is staying outside Poland;
- applications for family members of a Polish citizen, an EU citizen, or a citizen of the United Kingdom covered by Article 10(1)(b) and (d) of the Withdrawal Agreement, when the foreign national concerned is staying outside Poland;
- applications for foreign nationals leading a family life, within the meaning of the European Convention on Human Rights, with a Polish citizen, EU citizen, or eligible UK citizen, when the foreign national concerned is staying outside Poland.
These applications must still be submitted in paper form under the existing rules.
Before completing the application, carefully read all instructions and guidance. Complete the application slowly and carefully — the questions are available in three languages. If you are unsure about anything, ask a translator or someone you trust for help. The MOS portal also includes simple step-by-step instructions to guide you through the process.
Submit your application no later than on the last day of your legal stay in Poland. The next step will be a personal appointment to provide fingerprints. During the visit, you may also need to submit additional documents.
How to submit an application
- Go to mos.cudzoziemcy.gov.pl and create an account.
- Log in personally to the MOS portal through login.gov.pl and complete the appropriate residence permit application form.
- Sign the electronic application — you will need a Trusted Profile, a qualified electronic signature, or a personal signature.
- Attach the required documents:
- a recent digital photograph;
- a digital copy (scan or photo) of all pages of your valid travel document;
- proof of payment (scan or electronic confirmation of transfer) for:
- the residence card issuance fee of PLN 100, and
- the stamp duty fee for the residence permit application (from PLN 340 to PLN 640, depending on the type of permit);
- an attachment electronically signed by:
- your employer — for applications for a temporary residence and work permit, certain business activity permits, highly qualified employment permits, or EU Blue Card long-term mobility permits;
- your educational institution — for applications for temporary residence for studies;
- the internship or volunteer programme organiser — for applications for temporary residence for internships or volunteering.
During the application process, you will need to provide the email address of your employer, educational institution, or internship/volunteer organiser. A link to the appropriate attachment form will be sent to that email address so the document can be completed and electronically signed by the relevant organisation. This is necessary for successful submission of your application.
After correctly signing and submitting the application, you will be able to save it in PDF and XML formats and receive an Official Acknowledgement of Receipt (UPO).
You can read the information materials prepared by the Office for Foreigners (UDSC) or use the free support offered by our staff at the CIC.

When completing the application, remember to:
- fill it out in Polish. If you do not know the Polish language, use the help of a translator;
- complete all required fields in accordance with the actual situation. Do not omit anything — withholding information may negatively affect the processing of your application;
- inform us if you have previously used other personal data — include this in the justification. If you have changed your surname, also provide your previous personal data;
- provide your actual place of residence where correspondence will be received. If your correspondence address is different, inform us when submitting the application;
- in the section concerning criminal records, indicate any judgments issued against you, and if you are unsure about any judgments, state that the proceedings are still ongoing (NOTE: paying a fine does not mean that no criminal proceedings were initiated or that no judgment was issued);
- in the section concerning ongoing criminal or misdemeanor proceedings, provide information about all ongoing cases (e.g. unpaid fines not accepted);
- do not withhold information. The application is submitted under criminal liability — therefore, if you have a criminal record, tick the appropriate box;
- provide contact details, i.e. phone number and email address, which will make it easier for us to contact you.
