What should I know? - Document confirming the right of permanent residence of a EU citizen

  • You submit the documents in originals or photocopies with the originals for inspection. 
  • If you file any documents in a foreign language, you must also provide a translation of this document into Polish prepared or certified by a sworn translator.
  • Letters are delivered to the address indicated in the application or, if you appoint a representative (Attorney-in-fact), to the address of the representative.
  • A document confirming the permanent residence of an EU citizen is issued by a Governor competent for the place of stay.
  • The document confirming the right of permanent residence of an EU citizen may be collected by an attorney-in-fact who holds a special power of attorney to collect it.
  • A document confirming the permanent residence of an EU citizen is issued immediately after submitting the application for its release.
  • The proceeding is initiated after submitting the application free of formal defects within the defined period or after supplementing those defects as requested, within the specified period of time. 
  • During the proceedings, you may be asked to complete documents that are necessary to clarify the facts and to close the matter. Compliance with the request within the specified time will have an impact on your waiting time for the document.
  • Submission of an application and issue of a document confirming the right of permanent residence of an EU citizen is free of charge.
