When should I apply?

You should apply for a document confirming the right of permanent residence of an EU citizen after 5 years of uninterrupted stay in Poland. EU citizen who is a spouse of a citizen of the Republic of Poland acquires the right of permanent residence after 3 years of uninterrupted stay on the territory of the Republic of Poland

In very exceptional circumstances, including your health condition, it will be possible to submit your application not only in person.

The requirement to submit an application in person does not apply to minors.

Where should I apply?

You may apply in person at the Department for Foreigners in Poznań or one of the office's delegations: Book your visit

If you cannot apply in person before your current legal status expires, please send your application by post to meet the deadline.

What counts is the date of postage at the post office.

What documents do I need?

  • Application completed in accordance with the instructions in 1 copy (application to be downloaded).
  • A photocopy of a valid travel document or other document confirming your identity and citizenship (original available for inspection), if you cannot present a travel document or another document confirming your identity and citizenship, you can provide other proof than an official document that will allow you to confirm your identity and citizenship in no doubt way,
  • 4 biometric photographs,
  • Documents confirming a 5-year uninterrupted period of stay in Poland, together with documents confirming the fulfillment of the conditions of residence during this period
  • In the case of a citizen of the European Union of the spouse of a citizen of the Republic of Poland - documents confirming 3 years of uninterrupted residence, together with documents confirming the fulfillment of the conditions of residence during this period;
  • Documents stating the reasons for breaks in stay, if any.

How can I get this document?

  • The a document confirming the right of permanent residence should be collected in person  at the Department for Foreigners in Poznań or at one of the office's delegations.
  • When a  document confirming the right of permanent residence issued to a minor over 13 years of age is collected, his/her presence is required.  When a document confirming the right of permanent residence has been issued to a minor under 13 years of age by the date of its receipt, the certificate shall be collected by his/her legal representative or guardian with a valid identity document.
  • A  document confirming the right of permanent residence may be also collected by the appointed attorney, on the basis of a special power of attorney to receive this document, upon presentation of a document confirming his / her identity
  • A visit to collect a document confirming the right of permanent residence in Poznań can be booked over the phone or email. Detailed information regarding collection of documents, phone numbers and  e-mail address, will be included in official correspondence (letters to suplement formal requirments, requests to supplement documents) and in our online application (Foreigners - Check case status)
  • A visit to collect a document confirming the right of permanent residence in Poznań can be booked in advance via the website by selecting „E” – collecting a residence card
  • To pick up your document confirming the right of permanent residence, bring a valid travel document or other document verifying your identity and citizenship
  • A document confirming the right of permanent residence is valid for 10 years

What should I know?

What obligations do I have after issuing the document?

You should report to the Governor competent for your place of residence in the event of:

  • change of the data contained in the document;
  • damage or other circumstances impeding the identification of the holder.

In the above-mentioned cases, you can apply for the replacement of the document that you have so far.

In the case of expiry of the validity period of document confirming the right of permanent residence, a new document is issued.
