What should I know?

Read our guide

A Polish ID for a foreigner is issued by a Governor competent for your place of stay. If we refuse to issue you a Polish ID, you will receive a decision.
The Polish ID is issued for 1 year, it only confirms your identity, does not confirm any citizenship and does not entitle you to cross the border. This document does not legalise your stay in Poland, i.e. when obtaining a visa, a temporary residence permit,  a permanent residence permit or a residence permit for a long-term resident of the EU.

You collect the document in-person at the Department for Foreigners in Poznań or one of the office's delegations. When collecting a document issued to a minor who is at least 6 years old, his presence is required.
A visit to collect a document in Poznań can be booked in advance via the website by selecting the E - Pickup residence card queue
Check the queue status

To pick up the Polish ID, bring a valid travel document and previous document if issued.
Check if your document is ready for collection and where you can collect it in our application to avoid disappointment.
