New legal solutions for foreigners during the coronavirus outbreak

On 31. March 2020, the Act on the so-called anti-crisis shield was introduced that includes special legal solutions for foreigners in Poland during the coronavirus outbreak. New regulations are to ease the legal situation in which foreigners may find themselves due to the epidemiological situation in our country. The Act provides, among others, an extension to the 30th day following the date of cancellation of the state of pandemia/epidemic emergency:

From 27th April 2019 - new application forms and attachments regarding temporary residence permits

From 27th April 2019, following the Regulation of the Minister of Interior and Administration of 17th April 2019 in regards to the temporary residence permit applications (Dz. U. poz. 779), new application forms and annexes regards temporary residence permit for foreigners on the territory of the Republic of Poland apply.

Suspension of processing applications for the financial assistance for holders of the Pole's Card

The Minister of the Interior and Administration suspended the examination of applications for the financial assistance for holders of the Pole's Card (Karta Polaka) settling in Poland, which were submitted from 18 January 2020. After increasing the special-purpose reserve for the payouts of financial assistance for holders of the Pole's Card settling in Poland, applications submitted from 18 January 2020 will be considered.

Legal stay of foreigners in the state of epidemic emergency - recommendations of the Office for Foreigners

Due to the state of epidemiological emergency, the Office of Wielkopolska Province introduced several operative restrictions, including the direct customer service provided by the Department for Foreigners. Restrictions apply to all Provinces' Offices in the country. We recommend sending all applications for the legalization of stay by post.

Travel restrictions announcement

We inform that due to the current epidemiological situation, according to the Regulation of the Minister of the Interior and Administration of 13th March 2020 (Dz. U. z 2020, poz. 435) effective 15th March 2020, from 00.00 hrs, most of the border crossings with the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus and Ukraine are closed for entry and some of them have limited border traffic.

Restrictions on the functioning of The Office of Wielkopolska Province in Poznań

Please be advised that following the § 8 of the Regulation of the Minister of Health of March 13, 2020, regarding the announcement of an epidemic emergency in the territory of the Republic of Poland (Dz. U. poz. 433), the Governor of Wielkopolska Province introduced as follows:

from March 16th, 2020 (Monday) until further notice to impose the restriction on the functioning of the Wielkopolska Province Office of Poznań consisting of performing only tasks necessary to assist citizens and specific tasks excluding the direct customer service in the scope indicated below:

Rules of stay of British citizens in Poland after Brexit

Since the 1st of February 2020, the United Kingdom is no longer a member of the European Union. Following a general election, parliament ratified the withdrawal agreement, and the UK left the EU at 11 p.m. GMT on 31 January 2020, to be precise.

Pursuant to the agreement on withdrawal from the EU, the “transitional period” will last until the end of 2020. As a result, the rules for crossing the border and stay of UK citizens and their family members in Poland will remain unchanged.
